Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan
Environmental Impact Statement
The MATRIX Consulting team is providing support to Louis Berger in their contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers to provide services for the preparation of the Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan (MRERP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Specifically, Dr. Chapman assists the project delivery team in strategic communications planning, including assistance wth tribal communicatons and public engagement. She assists the team in finding new approaches for assuring compliance with NEPA principles within the magnitude and complexity of the project, including transparency and engagement at all appropriate levels.
The MRERP was authorized by Congress to:
- mitigate losses of aquatic and terrestrial habitat
- recover federally listed species under the Endangered Species Act
- restore the ecosystem to prevent further decline among other native species
The Plan will guide program and actions supporting mitigation, recovery and restoration for the next 50 years.
